UConn Greater Hartford Campus Parking Services

Parking Facilities
Hartford Campus student parking lots are located opposite the campus on Trout Brook Drive. Students must park in designated student parking areas; a valid student parking decal must be displayed on the vehicle's windshield. Faculty/staff parking is reserved in clearly posted lots. Handicapped parking is available in the faculty/staff parking lots, provided a valid Connecticut handicapped permit and UConn decal are displayed on the vehicle.

Parking Decals
Students are billed $40.00 per year (as part of the fall fee bill) for a Hartford parking decal. Parking decals are distributed as of August 1, 2005 from the Bursar in the Undergraduate building in room 102 and/or at the New Student Orientation.

Students must complete a Vehicle Registration Information Form. Paper copies are also available in the Undergraduate building in room 102 and must be returned to the Bursar's Office to obtain the parking decal.

The Hartford parking decal is valid at any regional campus as well as the Storrs campus provided students park in designated areas as posted.

UConn Police
UConn police patrol the parking lots on a regular basis. There are also “blue box” emergency phones located throughout the lots and linked directly to the UConn Police.

Ticketing
UConn police patrol all lots on a regular basis and will issue tickets for parking violations. Students may appeal a parking ticket by completing a Parking Ticket Appeal form within 30 days of the violation.

PARKING POLICIES

Subj:   Faculty/Staff Parking

Over the past five years the Greater Hartford Campus has experienced growth in our academic programs and service units.  Although this growth has been very good for the campus, we are being challenged to provide adequate parking for the faculty and staff in the two lots reserved for faculty and staff.  We have 150 parking spaces and 250 faculty and staff employed on campus.

On several occasions this academic year we have had a larger percentage of our faculty and staff on campus than normal.  This situation created parking problems for us.  Several of the faculty who were not able to find a parking space parked in the Trout Brook lot.  Several others decided to park in restricted areas and were issued parking citations.  In the future I would ask that we park only in designated parking spaces.  We cannot park in fire lanes, at the loading dock or on the grass.  Parking in these areas will result in receiving a parking citation.  If there are no parking spaces in the 85 Lawler Road or 1800 Asylum Avenue lots you should park in the Trout Brook lot.  The parking enforcers will be patrolling the lots for individuals who are illegally parked and for individuals who are parked in the two lots without appropriate parking permits.  Faculty and staff must have a valid parking decal; the ones now in use expire in May of 2007.

Should you receive a parking ticket you must follow the town of West Hartford’s appeal process by going to their website and completing the parking appeal form at http://www.west-hartford.com/TownServices/TownDepartments/FinancialServices/OrdinanceViolationObjectionStatement.pdf.  Sending your ticket to my office only delays the process.

For those faculty and staff who have guest speakers or lecturers visiting the campus you must secure a parking permit for your guest and the permit must be placed on the dashboard of the vehicle.  If more than four visitors are expected they should be instructed to park in the visitor’s lot.

The Parking Committee has designated a select group of individuals in each building to issue permits for visitors.  They are:

  1. Cooperative Extension     Sandra Cooper
  2. Teacher Certification:       Monica Gat
  3. Director’s Office:              Patricia Toupin
  4. Public Policy:                    Valerie Rogers
  5. Urban & Community Studies:       Maria Winnick
  6. Social Work:                     Maria Williams
  7. Parking Services:             Nicole Williams & Alison Valone

(Undergraduate Bldg)

Faculty and staff visiting from the other UConn campuses can park on campus with a UConn parking permit.

Should you have questions feel free to get in touch with me or a member of the Parking Committee.
