About the Greater Hartford Campus

UCONN Greater Hartford is the largest of the five regional campuses, designed to make the first years of a high quality college education affordable.

By living at home for their freshman and sophomore years, students save costs of room and board while commuting to our attractive campus, conveniently located in West Hartford.

Keeping part-time jobs and community ties at home while participating in the academically and culturally diverse campus life of UCONN Greater Hartford, allows students to enjoy a warm, accessible college environment which fully meets their educational needs.

Depending on their academic majors, most students go on to spend their junior and senior years at the main campus at Storrs where they are automatically enrolled and guaranteed student housing.

The Hartford campus is also the site of the graduate School of Social Work; the Department of Public Policy, the Teacher's Certification Program for College Graduates, and the Cooperative Extension System.

UCONN at Greater Hartford is ideally located. Since it is only 45 minutes from Storrs, students often attend events at the main campus. The library, bookstore and sports events on the Storrs campus are all open to UCONN at Greater Hartford students

Occasionally, students commute to the Storrs , Waterbury , or Torrington campuses for one or two classes if certain courses at those locations fit their academic needs.

UCONN at Greater Hartford students are fullstanding university students from the start. They go through the same application process and are eligible for financial aid and scholarships on the same basis as main campus students. Approximately 80% of UCONN's students receive some financial aid and all students are encouraged to apply.

Applications to UCONN at Greater Hartford are made directly to the Admissions Office, Admissions Building, U-88, University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT 06269-3088. Admissions, grade reports, transcripts, billing and other computerized record keeping are done through the main campus at Storrs.

One of the Top Libraries in the State...

is available to UCONN at Greater Hartford students with 18,000 volumes at the Harleigh B. Trecker Library. The library has on-line links to the Homer Babbidge Library at Storrs with its 1.9 million volumes, 17,000 periodicals and 350,000 government documents.
