Warning Siren
General Procedures Common to All Emergency Situations:
Call 911 or from campus phones 8-911.
Call UConn Police at 570-5173 or from campus phones 8-570-5173.
Avoid confrontation with any assailant.
If evacuation of the building is necessary, follow the fire evacuation procedures.

The campus warning siren will emit a 10 second “Alert” tone followed by an announcement for the following emergencies:
A significant event requiring police intervention has been reported on campus. Be alert, identify a safe location, secure doors and await further instructions.
Threat: A threat warning of a specific nature has been issued for this area. Be alert, identify a safe location and await further instructions
Hazardous Material: A hazardous material or other fire department emergency has been reported. Be alert, identify a safe location and await further instructions.

The campus warning siren will emit a 10 second “Chime” tone followed by an announcement for the following emergency:
Severe Weather: A severe weather emergency has been declared for the University of Connecticut and surrounding area. Be alert, identify a safe location and await further instructions.
Call 911 or from campus phones 8-911.
Call UConn Police at 570-5173 or from campus phones 8-570-5173.
Faculty members teaching classes should remain with students. Stay inside rooms until further notice.
Be prepared for emergency evacuation.
Once police arrive, follow their directions.
If shots are heard, everyone should get down on the floor.
Police will notify faculty and staff when the situation is resolved and the area is safe.
